  • Attested to by the FAO of the Province or Municipality or notary Public and...
  • Brought to the Consulate for authentication.

Procedure for authentication of Nigerian Documents to be used in China
  1. Documents issued by local government councils, State and Federal Ministries, educational institutions such as marriage certificates, birth certificates, educational certificates, business licences etc should be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,(MFA) Abuja for legalisation
  2. After legalisation by the MFA, the documents should be sent to the Chinese Embassy in Abuja or Consulate-General of People’s Republic of China in Lagos for authentication
  3. Documents issued by individuals and non-governmental organisations would need to be stamped by a Notary Public before being passed to the MFA, Abuja and thereafter to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General in Nigeria for authentication
  4. For legalisation of true copies of documents, the photocopies should be presented along with the original for verification.



Attestation of Signature

For documents that require attestation of signature in presence of a Consular officer, the applicant should arrange appointment and go to the Consulate with valid passport or any other identification document.
